TRUSTHOUSE VS ATLAN
Atlan is a strong metadata and data catalog platform, and it now positions itself as a context layer for AI. Trusted context matters. On its own, it doesn't stop an agent that reads a perfectly certified table from taking an action nobody approved, leaking what it read, or making a decision nobody can reconstruct.
WHAT ATLAN DOES WELL
Atlan builds a graph of your data estate: metadata, lineage, quality, certified definitions and ownership. Its AI oversight capabilities register models and agents and tie them to lineage and policy, and its MCP server serves certified context to agent frameworks with access controls at the point of delivery. For data teams, it is a well-built system.
THE DIFFERENCE
At rest
In motion
| Atlan | TrustHouse | |
|---|---|---|
| Starts from | The data estate | The AI decision |
| Core job | Catalog, certify and serve context to AI | Control every request, action and decision AI makes |
| Where it sits | Beside the agent, as a trusted source of context | In the runtime path of every agent request |
| Primary owner | Data teams and stewards | CISO, CIO, CDO and Head of AI together |
| Deployment | Single-tenant SaaS is Atlan's recommended model, with connector agents in your environment | Managed service inside your VPC |

TrustHouse connects the two. Runtime policy enforcement sets the controls around AI activity, and Context Engine supplies the business context while AI works inside live processes.
"Being authorized to take an action doesn't make the action appropriate. AI needs both."
WHERE THE GAP SHOWS UP
A malicious instruction hides inside a document the agent retrieves. The document is cataloged and certified. The payload still runs. TrustHouse's gateway inspects every input before the model sees it.
The agent reads authorized data and repeats PII, PHI or a credential in its answer. TrustHouse scans outputs and blocks the response before it leaves.
An agent starts looping through tools and requests. Per-resource access caps contain it without slowing the rest of your estate.
Lineage shows where the data came from. Decision Provenance shows the data, the policy, the risk score and the outcome, in one replayable record.
ALREADY RUN ATLAN?
Atlan remains the system your data team uses to manage the estate. TrustHouse controls the AI that runs on it.

TrustHouse catalogs and profiles the data assets your AI uses, and verifies them before AI touches them. It isn't built to replace an enterprise-wide catalog program.
It controls what context an agent receives. It doesn't control what the agent then does with it, what it sends out, or whether the decision can be defended later. That's the TrustHouse layer.
Yes. Most enterprises will keep their catalog and add a trust layer for AI in production.
